NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs is examining an NIA request to register a case against Al Qaeda and ISIS under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the United Nations Convention on terrorism to take action against its suspected sympathisers and recruiters.  Sources said the MHA is examining the NIA file and a final decision will be taken after consultation with top officials in the security and intelligence establishment.  “In all probability, the MHA will not allow the NIA to name ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as this will only sensationalise the issue and nothing could be gained out of it. The Ministry will also have to consider the fact that 39 Indians are still in ISIS custody,” sources added.
