NEW DELHI: India is ready to resolve all border issues through talks, but it is not willing to be “taken for granted”, NSA Ajit Doval said on Tuesday, referring to the recent flare-ups on the borders with China and Pakistan.
“We would like to resolve our problems through negotiations, through talks. I don’t think of any problem that cannot be resolved through negotiations,” he said. “But on the other hand, India would like to have an effective deterrence to deal with terrorism,” he added. Asked about the continued firing on the border, Doval said: “Whenever it happens, we respond in the way we should”.
About China, the former IB chief said there had been “positive signals” from Beijing that it was ready to sit down and talk.
