46 Rajasthan Civic Bodies go to Polls November 22

Elections for 46 civic bodies in Rajasthan including the Jaipur Municipal Corporation will be held Nov 22, the state poll panel announced Tuesday.

JAIPUR: Elections for 46 civic bodies in Rajasthan including the Jaipur Municipal Corporation will be held Nov 22, the state poll panel announced Tuesday.

"The counting will take place on Nov 25," State Election Commissioner Ram Lubhaya said.

Besides Jaipur, the other municipal corporations where elections are to be held include Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, Kota and Bharatpur.

The commissioner said that the filing of nominations will start from Nov 7 and the last date for filing nominations is Nov 11. "Withdrawal of nominations will be allowed till Nov 14," he said.

The state election commissioner said that over 66 lakh voters including over 29 lakh female voters will cast their votes in these elections, where voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For the benefit of voters, EVMs will be used at 6,135 polling booths.

The nagar parishads and nagar palikas where elections will be held include Beawar, Alwar, Pushkar, Banswara, Chabra, Barmer, Chittorgarh, Churu, Sri Ganganagar, Mount Abu, Sirohi among others.
