'Stable Ties Crucial'

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday told visiting Chairman of  Beijing’s National People’s Congress(NPC), Zhang Dejiang that  peaceful, stable and cooperative ties between India and China were important for regional and global peace as well as prosperity.

The PM, who “warmly” recalled his earlier meeting with Zhang in May, told the Chinese dignitary that the “ Parliamentary exchanges were an important pillar of the bilateral relationship”. 

According to Modi, his Beijing visit last month  had ushered in a new era in bilateral ties. “He stressed the need to broaden the foundation of India-China relations by promoting exchanges between state-level legislatures as well,” a release said.
