Tomar Sent to 4-day Police Custody

NEW DELHI: Former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was on Monday remanded in four-day police custody in the fake degree case after Delhi Police stated before a local court that his custody was required to ascertain the facts related to the migration certificate obtained by the accused from Bundelkhand University. The city court allowed Delhi Police to quiz Tomar till June 19. Tomar was produced before court on the expiry of the two-day police custody. The police said that he had obtained a forged migration certificate purportedly issued by Bundelkhand University. Public prosecutor Atul Shrivastava requested that Tomar be sent to police custody for eight days since he had to be quizzed to ascertain various facts related to his studies. Police told court that Tomar had to be confronted with university officials and the students of the institute to establish whether he had indeed studied in the college or not.
