NEW DELHI: In a yet another embarrassment for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party social media head Ankit Lal’s wife accused Kejriwal of making his own political “career by destroying the career and family life of many youngsters”.
Ankit’s wife Prerna Prasad, a documentary-maker, launched a scathing attack on Kejriwal on a social networking site saying, “ Kejriwal has made his career by destroying the career and family life of many youngsters like me.”
Prerna and Ankit got married in 2013 which had Kejriwal as one of the invitees. She even posted the picture of Kejriwal blessing the couple. Prerna said, “ Kejriwal is such a manipulator that he used my husband Ankit Lal to get my Facebook account deactivated because I was speaking truth.”
In a series of posts, Prerna said that she was too small to advise Kejriwal on how to run a party, but said that he should love the ones who were with him in the time of struggle. She, further, alleged that Kejriwal ignored those party men, who strived to ensured his poll victory.
In a sharp attack, Prerna suggested , “True leaders are those who have the guts to face criticism and improve. The Rest are loyalists, blind followers and chamchas (cronies).”
Once Kejriwal’s close confidant, Ankit told Express, “I would not like to comment on this issue but yes my wife has made such comments.” He also said that his wife was in Rajasthan and he was on his way to meet her.
Sources said that Ankit had been now ignored by Kejriwal and his loyalists as well as the other party members. Ankit, who was a software engineer and left a company job in January 2012 to help Indian Against Corruption in its social media outreach, seems to have been divested of his charge. Dejected, Ankit is now planning to open his own venture.
A city-based news agency in April had filed a police complaint with the cyber cell after a fake tweet disguising as a credible ‘news tweet’ regarding the PM went viral on micro-blogging website. The agency alleged that Ankit had ‘distorted’ the tweet.
