Mufti Reviews Law and Order Situation in Jammu

JAMMU: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today reviewed the law and order situation in the Jammu region, where a terror attack last week left two BSF jawans dead and many injured.     

"The Chief Minister received a detailed review of developmental activities and law and order situation from the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal and IGP, Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana," an official spokesman said.    

One terrorist was killed and another was captured alive in Udhampur after the terrorists attacked a BSF convoy there.           

Mufti, who chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of development works and situation in the Jammu region, was also informed about measures being taken to ensure peaceful conduct of the Amarnath yatra.       

The Divisional Commissioner informed the Chief Minister that there is no hurdle in the Yatra and it was progressing smoothly, barring temporary suspensions on account of closure of roads due to incessant rains. He added that the directions given by him while chairing the DDB meetings are being followed in all the districts of the Jammu Division.   

While briefing the Chief Minister, IGP Jammu said there was total synergy between civil and police administration in dealing with law and order situation.           

Chief Secretary, Iqbal Khandey; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B B Vyas; Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar; Principal Secretary (Home), R K Goyal, Divisional Heads and DIGs of all Ranges, besides Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of Jammu Division were in attendance at the meeting.
