Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives due to the stampede in Jharkhand.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives due to the stampede in Jharkhand.

"Pained at loss of lives due to the stampede in Jharkhand. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased in this hour of grief," the Prime Minister said.

"I pray that the injured recover quickly. I spoke to CM Raghubar Das ji on the incident," he added.

At least 11 'Kanwaria' devotees, including a woman, were killed and 50 others injured in a stampede at Durga temple in Belabagan area of Jharkhand's Deoghar district today.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 4.30 a.m. at Belabagan, about three kilometers away from the main temple complex.

The injured have been admitted to a local government hospital in Deoghar.
