Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs to Meet Today

A meeting has been convened amid indications that it may convene a short session of Parliament for passage of key bills.

NEW DELHI: A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) has been convened today amid indications that it may convene a short session of Parliament for passage of key bills.

The ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament, which has been rocked by relentless opposition protests, concludes today.

The government had earlier rejected the Congress party’s demand for the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj over the Lalit Modi controversy.

A feisty Swaraj had yesterday trained her guns on the Congress Party, specifically on its president and vice president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, to explain and justify the past alleged misdemeanors of the "First Family" and the party before targetting her on Lalit Gate.

In ignoring the ruckus caused by the opposition, she forcefully stressed her innocence and added that she had done nothing wrong.

Hitting back at the allegations, Rahul Gandhi  described her as the world's first "secret humanitarian".
