SATNA: Former BSP MP Sukhlal Kushwaha (56) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol at his residence here tonight, a police officer said.
"Kushwaha shot in his head with a pistol around 9 PM at his Nai Basti residence," Kulgavan Police Station In-charge Anil Bajpai told PTI.
His two sons rushed him to Birla Hospital, where he died.
Kushwaha shot into prominence when he defeated veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister late Arjun Singh from Satna in his very first election in 1996.
His post-mortem will be done at the district hospital and his last rites will be performed tomorrow, family sources said.
