Assam Government Declares Holiday on Aug 19 for Council Poll

Assam Government declared a public holiday on August 19 in the areas falling within the Tiwa Autonomous Council which will go for polls.

GUWAHATI: Assam Government today declared a public holiday on August 19 in the areas falling within the Tiwa Autonomous Council in the districts of Morigaon and Nagaon which will go for polling to the Council.

The state government has further declared public holiday in those areas that day under the NI Act, 1881, said a government release here.

The declaration is made in respect of all central government offices, public sector undertakings, corporations, board, banks, educational institutions among others in those areas, the release said.
