FSL and BDS Collect Samples from Jamshedpur Blast Site

JAMSHEDPUR: Officers of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) from Ranchi today investigated the spot where a low-intensity bomb exploded in a dustbin at Beldih locality here last night.

A team of the FSL and the BDS from Ranchi have begun their investigation and visited the spot from where they have collected some samples today, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anoop T Mathew said.

The district police have also been investigating the blast from all angles as it did not want to take chances, he said.

"We can't comment on the material used in the bomb without receiving all reports," Mathew said when asked about the initial findings of the team.

An alert has been sounded in Jamshedpur city and police patrolling has been intensified, the SSP said.

The area near the blast site had been cordoned off and movement of traffic has been restricted.

Prima facie, police suspect it was the handiwork of miscreants, officers said.
