Mukherjee Pays Homage to Former President S D Sharma on 97th Birth Anniversary

Pranab Mukherjee paid floral tribute before the portrait of former president Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma on the occasion of his 97th birth anniversary.

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee paid floral tribute before the portrait of former president Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma on Wednesday on the occasion of his 97th birth anniversary.

Dr. Sharma's wife, Vimala Sharma and other family members were present on the occasion, and also paid floral tributes.

Shankar Dayal Sharma was the ninth President of India, serving from 1992 to 1997. Prior to his presidency, he was the eighth Vice President of India, serving under R. Venkataraman from 1987 to 1992.

He was born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on August 19, 1918, and passed away on December 26, 1999.
