Two BSF Jawans Return to Base After Flag Meeting

Two BSF jawans, who were attacked by cattle smugglers from Bangladesh in Sipahijala handed to BGB.

AGARTALA: Two BSF jawans, who were attacked by cattle smugglers from Bangladesh at Balerdhepa in Sipahijala district yesterday and later handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), returned to their bases here last night following a flag meeting.

The two returned last night following a sector commandant level flag meeting at around 9 PM, a BSF official said today.

The jawans were attacked by Bangladeshi cattle smugglers near the zero point when they tried to stop them from smuggling and then handed over to BGB personnel by the gang, the official said.

Trouble began when a group of Indian villagers in league with a group of Bangladeshis were allegedly smuggling cattle through the border village in the morning and the patrolling BSF jawans gave them a chase, the BSF said.
