PATNA: The BJP on Friday demanded a probe to know why a lift in a state guest house stopped midway, trapping party president Amit Shah for about half hour.

"It is a gross dereliction of duty and irresponsibility by people responsible for facilities at the guest house," state Bharatiya Janata Party president Mangal Pandey said.

"Nobody was present in the guest house to deal with emergencies though a person with Z+ security cover was staying there," he said.

Shah and five others, including party colleagues and security personnel, were trapped in the lift on Thursday night.
