Tiger Drags Away Crab Hunter in Sundarbans

Bappa Bhunia was hunting crabs along with three others at a creek when a tiger pounced on him and dragged him away.

CANNING: A 22-year-old crab hunter was dragged away by a tiger at Benifeli jungle in the Sundarbans today, Forest department officials said. Bappa Bhunia was hunting crabs along with three others at a creek when a tiger pounced on him and dragged him away. 

The other three tried hard to save him but failed, the officials said adding the body was yet to be recovered. Bappa, a resident of Purba Gurguria under Kultali police station, left behind his pregnant wife.

With this, six persons became victims of tiger attacks in the Sundarbans in the past one and a half months, the officials said.
