NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday said he smelt “a rat” in the Patels community agitation in Gujarat, and added that some people are instigating the people of the state to disturb law and order.

“May be some people are instigating from behind, to disturb the law and order situation in the state, they should not do like this, it is very important to keep the atmosphere calm,” Rijiju told ANI.

Heaping praise on the people of Gujarat, Rijiju said they should protest, if at all, in a peaceful manner, as it is for the good of the state.

Reportedly, the Centre has sent Special Forces in Gujarat as the law and order situation in the state has worsened following agitations from the Patel community, who showcased their strength yesterday to push their demand for inclusion in OBC category.
