Congress Leaders Meet Bengal Governor

KOLKATA: A delegation of state Congress leaders on Wednesday met West Bengal Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi and demanded that people behind the killing of its student wing member Krishnaprasad Jana inside a college in West Midnapore on August 7 should be arrested immediately.

The delegation led by Congress veterans Abdul Mannan and Manas Bhunia also alleged that district SP Bharati Ghosh was nabbing members of the party’s student wing Chhatra Parishad and keeping them behind bars to please CM hief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They said the party’s youth wing leaders were being taken into custody illegally and forced to sign false statements to facilitate their arrest. “Why the SP is not arresting the ruling TMC members, who could be seen assaulting Jana in the CCTV footages obtained from the college?” they asked.
