NEW DELHI: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday challenged JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar, who alleged that “repackaged” old schemes comprised 87 percent of the Prime Minister’s `1,25,000 crore special Bihar package, to a TV debate on every project in the package.
“It’s unfortunate that a leader of Nitish’s stature is speaking like this. His statements are born out of frustration as a certain defeat is staring at him and people are comparing the NDA’s package with his government’s failure,” Gadkari said.
“I challenge him for a televised debate for every project under the package. We have prepared the details under every scheme,” the minister said. “What Nitish is doing is nothing but misleading the people. I ask him why his govt couldn’t execute projects worth `40,000 crore all these years,” he asked.
