NEW DELHI: The NHRC has issued notice to the union health secretary, director of AIIMS and the commissioner of Delhi Police over reports that an injured girl died after failing to receive timely treatment, an official said on Friday.

The eight-year-old girl was injured in a road accident on August 12 and her uncle was made to run from one hospital to the other, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), resulting in her death, the commission said citing media reports.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has given two weeks' time to the officials to respond, the commission said.

Reportedly, the girl was run over by a truck in south Delhi's Rangpuri area and was taken to Safdarjung Hospital, which referred the victim to AIIMS.

However, the girl was denied entry to the AIIMS Trauma Centre despite being accompanied by a policeman, the NHRC said.

The time thus wasted resulted in the girl's death.
