Woman Makes False Rape Charge Against Murder Case Witness

The woman was admitted to the district hospital yesterday by one Rajendra, who is resident of New Mohanpuri colony.

MEERUT:  A woman 'falsely' charged a 2013 murder case witness of rape to prevent him from testifying before court here, police said today.

Prima facie it appears that the woman falsely implicated a 2013 murder case witness, and his two friends, so that he couldn't testify before the court, SSP DC Dubey said today.

Najakat, the accused in the murder case under Brahmpuri police station, is in jail. He and his other friends wanted the prosecution witness, Salman alias Jawed, to desist from making statement against him in the court, Dubey said.

But when Salman did not comply they allegedly made this gangrape plot, he said.

They took the help of the woman, a resident of Bhajanpura Khajuri in Delhi, who charged them hefty sum, the SSP said.

It has been confirmed that there was no such case of gangrape with the woman, he added.

The woman was admitted to the district hospital yesterday by one Rajendra, who is resident of New Mohanpuri colony.

Rajendra said that he found the woman unconscious on the hospital premises, the SSP said, adding the hospital authorities called police after the woman gained conscious.

She told the police she was married five years back, but left her husband a year later since he was a habitual drinker, the SSP said.

According to the woman, Salman made her consume 'lassi' after which she started to lose her conscious. She said that she found herself in the hospital bed when she regainedconscious.

After regaining conscious she accused Salman and two ofhis other friends of raping her, the SSP said, adding that the rape has not been confirmed.

The man, who she claimed was her cousin, has denied any relation with the woman, the SSP said.

The woman is still in the hospital and investigation is on, he said.
