CHANDIGARH: Hundreds of women in Haryana and Chandigarh availed the facility of free travel on state roadways buses on Saturday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The Haryana government had announced earlier that women will be allowed free travel in state-run roadways buses on August 28 and 29.

Raksha Bandhan, the festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, was celebrated across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Saturday.

Social activists tied 'Rakhis' to police officers, jail authorities and others.

The Haryana government, as a gift on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, launched all-women police stations in all 21 districts in the state on Friday.
