DEORIA: Locals assaulted a policemen and torched a police outpost in protest against death of a youth due to a road accident in Rampur Karkhana area, near Maduwahdeeh village, police said here today.
Vinay Dubey (30) had sustained injuries after being hit by a jeep three days ago. He was admitted to Gorakhpur hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday, they said. Locals resident had lodged an FIR in this regard, but there was no trace of the jeep or its driver. Enraged over the incident, villagers assaulted a policemen and torched Maduwahdeeh police outpost.
Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said some material was also damaged in the attack. He said heavy force has been deployed in the area and the situation was under control.
