NDFB(S) Militant Killed in Encounter in Assam's Kokrajhar District

GUWAHATI: An NDFB (Songbijit) militant was killed in an encounter today with a joint police and Army team in Assam's Kokrajhar district, a senior police official said.

The encounter took place at about 5.20 AM between NDFB(S) cadres and security forces at Silaimatha forest area under Bogribari police station, IGP Dr L R Bishnoi told PTI.

An AK-47 rifle with two magazines, 44 rounds of ammunition, two bags, two mobile phones, extortion notes, a solar power plate, clothes, blankets and some other materials were recovered from the slain insurgent.

The deceased has been identified as Nerswn Brahma alias Naidaw, a cadre trained in Bangladesh, who was involved in the 2012 Bodo-Muslim violence, the IGP said.

Search was on for the other Ultras.
