Kejriwal CBI Row: Congress Accuses Centre to Trying to 'Destabilise' Delhi Government

NEW DELHI: Backing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s attack on the Centre over the raid on his office, the Congress on Wednesday said that incident had been a ‘calculated’ move to destabilize the Delhi Government while asserting that it was a sad day for democracy.

“They could have spoken to Kejriwal if they had any allegations against him. But this is a calculated move and a plot by the Centre to destabilize the Delhi Government. Common decency was thrown out of the window in this incident,” Congress leader P.L. Punia told ANI.

Resonating similar sentiments, Congress leader P.C Chacko said that the ongoing battle between the Centre and the state government was harming the people of Delhi and that the state administration has come to a standstill.

“A clear case of blame game is going on and it is a sad day for democracy. It this is the corporate federalism that the Prime Minister was talking about, then it is quite disappointing. For whatever reason a Chief Minister’s office is raided, it is something that should not happen in India,” Chacko told ANI.

However, the Centre defended the CBI today and said that they were simply doing their ‘duty’ and that no one should try to disrupt them.

“CBI is doing its duty. Nobody should put obstacles in the way of CBI conducting its duty and responsibility. Everyone must help in that. I would suggest that the case should not be influenced by making statements. You are weakening the fight against corruption by politicizing the issue,” Union Minister of Parliamentary Affair Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal continued his assault on the Centre and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the raid by the CBI on his office yesterday and said that said that the documents that were seized from his office had absolutely no connection to the allegations that were being probed.

“CBI kept reading DDCA file in my office. They wud hv seized it. But after my media briefing, they left it. Not clear if they took a copy,” Kejriwal tweeted today.

Attacking Jaitley for ‘rubbishing’ his allegations on the Centre, accusing them of being involved in the raid, Kejriwal said that the former was a liar and questioned his role over the DDCA scam.

“FM lied in the Parliament yesterday. Why is Jaitley ji so scared of DDCA probe? What is his role in DDCA scam,” Kejriwal said in another tweet.
