NEW DELHI: Developments in Arunachal Pradesh reverberated in Parliament on Thursday as both Houses saw protests from opposition parties led by the Congress.
In Rajya Sabha, the Opposition demanded a discussion on developments in Arunachal. Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said he had given two notices under Sections 167 and 267. RS Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien said the motion was under consideration of Chairman Hamid Ansari and it would not be appropriate to discuss the Arunachal Governor’s role in the Upper House. Congress MPs then trooped into the well, shouting slogans. They shouted, “Modi’s dictatorship will not be allowed”, once PM entered the House at noon.
In Lok Sabha too, Congress attempted to raise the issue till well after lunch. Question hour was conducted by the Speaker amid vociferous protests by Congress and other parties.
