Rohtak Gang-rape: Seven Get Death Penalty

ROHTAK: A Rohtak session court on Monday sentenced to death seven accused in the Nepali deaf and dumb girl's rape and murder case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Seema Singhal, who had convicted the accused in the case on December 18 and reserved her judgment for today, announced death by hanging to all.

The girl had been subjected to inhuman torture and gang-rape before her murder.

The convicts include Rajesh, Sunil, Sarwar, Manbir, Pawan and Parmod, all residents of Gaddi Kheri village in the district.

A suspect, Sombir, of the same village had allegedly committed suicide while another accused hailing from Nepal is under trial in a juvenile court.

Notably, a 28-year-old Nepali woman staying with her sister in Rohtak went missing on February 1.

She was undergoing treatment for depression at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Chandigarh.

Her mutilated body was found on February 4.  The post-mortem report said pieces of condom and a stick was also found in her private parts. Her head had been bashed in and her vagina, rectum and anus were all ruptured.
