GUWAHATI: BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday filed a civil defamation suit of `100-crore against his bête noire and Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for linking him to scams. “For the past few weeks, the Chief Minister has been taking my name, implicating me to Saradha and Louis Berger scams. As I don’t know in which case I am an accused, I have filed a civil defamation case against him,” Sarma said, adding he would file a criminal defamation case on Thursday.
Once the a trusted lieutenant of Gogoi, Sarma fell out with the CM months after the Congress’ victory in the 2011 Assembly polls. He attempted a failed revolt against Gogoi before joining the BJP last August.
