59 IEDs Recovered From Latehar Jungles in Jharkhand

LATEHAR: Based on leads provided by a Maoist, security forces today recovered 59 improvised explosive devices concealed in the jungles in Naxal-affected Latehar district, police said.      

The recovery was made after a Maoist Mithilesh Yadav, who was arrested from Gumla district recently, provided the police the leads, Superintendent of Police (Operation) Manish Bharti said.  Bharti told newsmen that the security personnel, including 214 battalion of CRPF, Kobra, district armed Police, launched a massive search in the Kumandih jungle of Mudhar and Ranidah.      

In the course of the search operation, the security personnel stumbled upon 59 IEDs concealed in the jungles of Kumandih under Manika police station limits.  The bomb disposal squad of Jharkhand Jaguar battalion defused the bombs on the spot, he said.       Meanwhile, security personnel today arrested a Maoist with arms and ammunition from Derawan village under Chandwa police station during the anti-Naxal operation.       

Superintendent of Police Anup Birtheray said Puran was an active member of Rabindra Ganju-led squad.
