SHILLONG: Former Meghalaya minister and veteran Congress leader Friday Lyngdoh passed away today at his home here after a brief illness, family sources said.
The 86-year-old Congress leader, who represented Mawkhar Assembly constituency until 2013 elections, breathed his last a little after 7 PM at his home, they said. Friday did not contest the last elections and instead handed over the baton to Roshan Warjri who is also the Home Minister in the Mukul Sangma-led Congress coalition government.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has mourned the death of Friday and termed him as one of the political stalwarts the state has ever produced.
