Bihar to set up Super-emergency Operation Centre for Disaster Management

PATNA: Bihar government has decided to set up a super emergency operation centre armed with latest equipment and resources here and emergency operation centres in other districts of the state.

Presiding over the review meeting of disaster management at the camp office at his official residence, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today directed officials in this regard.

The proposed super emergency operation centre will be set up in the under-construction Police Bhawan and protocols will be laid down for functioning of the centre, the Chief Minister said.

Kumar directed the Disaster Management Department and Disaster Management Authority to submit a proposal to the state government about requirements of the super emergency operation centre.

He said that a police officer will be made the nodal officer of the super emergency operation centre. With food being most sought after relief material during times of natural disaster, the chief minister said that the 'Shatabdi Ann Kalash Yojana' will remain operational so that nobody dies.

Kumar directed the officials to put in place a standard operating process for mitigating situation arising out of storm like one in place for flood, drought, earthquake, water crisis and fire and said that there should be District Disaster Management Plan on the lines of SDMP in addition to Disaster Management Plan in all government officials to deal with natural disaster.
