Three Arrested for Kidnapping College Student

GURGAON:A 20-year-old student who went to meet her friend outside her college wall was cornered, dragged into a car and abducted, all in broad daylight, in front of gate number two of Dronacharya Government College in Gurgaon on Monday morning.

The entire episode, caught on CCTV cameras, went viral on social media platforms. The girl can be seen trying her best not to let her kidnappers close the door of the white Maruti Swift Dzire.

Public outrage that followed on seeing the video pushed Gurgaon Police to turbo mode to rescue the girl. Commissioner of Gurgaon Police Navdeep Singh Virk, overseeing efforts to rescue the girl, managed to free her at 4 pm, in a record time of seven hours from the time the incident was reported around 10 am to the police. The girl is now safe with her family, and the kidnappers were apprehended. “The CCTV footage shows that one of the accused, who appears to be known to the woman, entered the college through a broken wall at about 9:45 AM and called her from inside. As soon the victim came across the wall, the accused dragged her into a white Maruti Swift Dzire car and fled from the spot. The victim cried for help which alerted passersby who informed the police,” DCP (West) Gurgaon Kulvinder Singh said.

“The woman shouted for help and I ran after the car. I went behind till sector 4-7. The car either went to sector 4-7 or Pataudi road because these are two ways. There were two men. One was driving and the other held the woman. She might be about 19 years of age, wearing a red salwar and yellow dupatta,” an eyewitness said.
