Welcome Any Positive Change in Censor Board: Pahlaj Nihalani

We welcome any positive change according to film fraternity” Nihalani said, when asked on proposed changes in structure, functioning of Censor Board.

MUMBAI: Days after Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley said that time has come to revamp the Censor Board and it’s functioning, Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairman Pahlaj Nihalani on Wednesday said that he would welcome positive changes suggested by the film fraternity.

“We welcome any positive change according to film fraternity,” Nihalani told ANI, when asked on proposed changes in structure and functioning of the Censor Board.

Jaitley had earlier said that he would like the Film Certification Board to be controversy-free, saying he was discussing the matter with some experts as to what should be the future role of the body.

CBFC commonly referred as the Censor Board is a statutory censorship and classification body under the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and is mandated to regulate the public exhibition of films under the Cinematograph Act 1952.

The board has been mired in controversy since the beginning of the year when Pahlaj Nihalani took charge as its chairperson.
