Union Government cleared the decks for proposed Coastal Road Project connecting Nariman Point to Kandivli.

MUMBAI: The Union Government has cleared the decks for the proposed Coastal Road Project connecting Nariman Point to Kandivli.

A notification was issued allowing the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to reclaim seafront and mangroves, thus clearing the last hurdle for the longstanding project.

Of the total 34.56 kilometres length of the road, the stretch of 11.61 kilometres would be constructed on reclaimed land over 168.08 hectares. No toll would be charged on this road initially, with an aim to solve the city's traffic congestion.
