Delhi Officers to Go on Mass Leave Today

NEW DELHI: The AAP Government seems to have hit the wrong spot this time as over 200 senior government officers have threatened to go on mass leave on Thursday in protest against the suspension of two senior Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) cadre officers on Wednesday. Following the suspension of Yashpal Garg ( Special Secretary, Prosecution) and Subhash Chandra (Special Secretary , Prisons), around 200 DANICS-cadre officers have threatened to go on mass leave.

Terming the suspension by an “intimidating” government as “illegal”, the DANICS Officers’ Association has apprised the Union Home Minister of the development. The preparations for the odd-even plan, meant to save the capital from the pollution, might be affected as the association members hold key posts including that of SDM, secretary to minister and special secretary.

Reacting to the association’s move, a government spokesperson said, “We have not got any official communication from the association. If they want to go on leave, they can do so.”
