39 New Swine Flu Cases in a Day, State Toll Rises to 38

AHMEDABAD: Swine flu claimed one more life in Patan district taking the death toll due to infection to 38 so far in the state, even as 39 new positive cases have been registered today, a senior health department official said.   

"One person in Patan district died due to Swine flu today, while 39 new positive cases have been reported," state health commissioner J P Gupta told PTI.        

The total death toll has climbed to 38 in the state, he said, adding a total of 309 swine flu cases have been registered so far while 122 patients have been cured.   Swine Flu had claimed 37 lives last month.            

Gupta further said the health department has formed 20 teams of government medical colleges to sensitise private doctors about swine flu.         

 "Professors of government-run medical colleges today visited more than 80 private hospitals in the state to check whether proper protocol for Swine flu treatment is being followed or not," Gupta said.            

"The team will sensitise staff and doctors in private hospital about swine flu virus. The team will also conduct visits in another private hospitals tomorrow," he added.      

Kutch, which is the worst affected district, has today reported 11 new positive cases, taking the total count to 125.            

A member from Kutch district collector's family has been reported positive, said Gupta.
