INDORE: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today said she will develop Potlod village panchayat here into an 'e-panchayat' which will witness a fusion of modern means of communication, including wifi connectivity.

"Potlod village panchayat will be developed as e-panchayat by creating a wi-fi zone through internet connectivity and (will) also prepare the village's master plan with the help of experts," Mahajan said while addressing a meeting of officials and representatives of different organisations here.

She appealed to officials and other stake-holders to cooperate for developing Potlod, which is adopted by her under the 'Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna', as an ideal village by December 6.

The village, situated 55 km away from here, has a population of 3,000.

Mahajan said she would strive to provide basic facilities in the village, apart from banking facilities, and will also ensure its social and economical development.

Mahajan said at present there are 300 unemployed youths in the village and she wants them to get jobs in the village itself and become financially independent.

She said a water treatment plant will be established in Potlod and all households will get water supply through taps.

An organic manure and a dairy plant is also proposed in the village, she said.
