'U-Turns' may Cost BJP Dear in Assam

GUWAHATI: The BJP seems to be losing ground in Assam. The saffron party had dented a few of the bastions of Tarun Gogoi-led Congress Government in the state and bagged seven seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

However, a massive anti-BJP mood is building up in the state as it is ‘going back’ on its poll promises after coming to power at the Centre. All eyes are now on the Municipal polls to be held in the state next week.

Fed up with the ‘misrule’ of the state government and the internal squabbling within the Congress, the people, desperate for a change, had embraced the BJP as an alternative.

But nine months down the line, the BJP’s image has taken a beating.
