UP: A village pradhan, who was associated with Samajwadi Party, and his gunner were shot dead by some unidentified persons today at village Niana here, police said.
One killer also died in shootout by gunner, they said.
Harindra Nagar, a Samajwadi party activist and village pradhan of Dadupur, along with his gunner Bhuvesh Sharma had gone to attend a marriage function at Niana village, police said.
As Nagar came out of the venue, he was shot dead by a person, they said, adding that in retaliation firing his gunner shot dead the assailant.
Later, the assailant's accomplices shot the gunner dead and fled away, police said.
Superintendent of Police (rural) Brijesh Kumar Singh said that around five assailants were suspected who fled away and are yet to be identified.
