JAMMU: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded a time-bound probe the mysterious death of youth in police custody in Kupwara and expressed concerns over the rise in such cases in Kashmir.

"It is unfortunate that a young man has lost his life in police custody and it needs to be thoroughly investigated to know what went wrong and where," PDP Chief Spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar said in a statement.

He said, at a time when the police had to learn to behave responsibly and sensitively such sad incidents only add to the prevailing mistrust among the people with the system which is something we can't afford.

Such an incident coming close to the unfortunate killing earlier in Palhalan, Pattan could further vitiate the atmosphere apart from the tragedy it brings to the victims and their families, Akhtar added and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
