UP Health Minister Reprimands Doctors for ‘Lackadaisical Attitude’

GHAZIABAD: Uttar Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Nitin Agarwal today conducted a surprise inspection at a district hospital here and reprimanded the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Medical Superintendent for their "lackadaisical attitude".

Talking to reporters, Agarwal said that several patients admitted in the hospital and present in the OPD have complained that they are forced by attending doctors and the staff to purchase medicines, syringes, and intravenous equipments, etc from chemist shops.

The patients admitted in various wards have also complained that doctors are not attending them at regular intervals, the minister said.

Agarwal warned CMS Dr JPN Singh and CMO Dr Ajay Agarwal to provide adequate medical facilities to the patients as the state government is providing enough grant.

A report will be handed over to the Chief Minister to apprise him of the lackadaisical attitude of doctors and attending staff, non availability of medicines to the patients from hospital dispensary for which government is spending huge amounts out of the state exchequer.

Aggarwal also expressed his concern about "poor hygiene and lack of cleanliness" in hospital premises.
