Sushma on State Visit to Oman

NEW DELHI:Ahead of a possible visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this year, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday reached  Oman on a State Visit, her third to the region since taking over as the country’s chief envoy. In fact, Oman is the Gulf state with whom India has arguably the closest ties. On her arrival, Sushma addressed the Indian community at a reception. According to her, the role of Indian expatriates “has become indispensable for the Omani economy”.“The welfare of our nationals outside India, particularly in the Gulf region, is one of the top most priorities of our government,” she said, noting that India has been in continuous dialogue with Omani government on community welfare issues.
