Two Die of Swine Flu in Kashmir

SRINAGAR:A man and woman have died of swine flu in Kashmir, where 71 others also have tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

“Two people have died of the H1N1 virus in the Valley. One of them is a woman,” Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences director Showkat Zargar told mediapersons here on Wednesday.

He said the two persons had died of H1N1 infection at the surgical intensive care unit of the hospital on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

“His death is confirmed to have occurred due to the H1N1 virus,” Zargar said.

About the deceased woman, he said: “She was also suffering from cardiomyopathy congestive cardiac failure and cardiac ailments. We apprehend that she may have died of this cause”. It is also a fact that the woman was infected with the H1N1 virus, he added.
