AGARTALA: Police have arrested a man for allegedly trying to bury his nine-year daughter alive at Putya in Sipahijala district of Tripura near the India-Bangladesh border.
Sources said Abdul Hussain tied her daughter Ruksana's hands and tapped her mouth and tried to bury her in a pit at the backyard of their house, while his wife was away.
As he filled earth upto her chest, his wife returned prompting him to place a bamboo-drum over his daughter's head.
His wife, seeing her daughter missing, sounded an alarm and called her neighbours. They found her in the search and called the police.
The girl was admitted to hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical.
