PATNA: At least two persons, including a suspected human bomb who set off the explosion, were killed and 16 others were wounded in a blast that tore through the civil court at Arrah in Bihar’s Bhojpur district .

“A police constable along with a middle-aged woman of  suspected to be human bomb were killed on Friday morning when undertrials were being brought in a vehicle to be  produced in the court,” said ADGP Gupteshwar Pandey.

According to the police official, “Bomb splinters have been found on her body and a mobile recovered from her person.

A police constable Amit Kumar(40) was the other person killed”.

Pandey, however, ruled out the possibility of terror attack. Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar said that the bomb blast was apparently intended to help some of the undertrials to break free.

Taking advantage of the chaos that reigned in the wake of the blast, two undertrials Lambu Sharma and Akhilesh Upadhaya managed to give the slip to the police. Lambu had made a similar attempt in 2009 when his associates set off bombs on the court premises.
