NEW DELHI: To keep the Delhi election “incident free” the Election Commission has asked citizens to become “eyes and ears” by helping in enforcing the model code of conduct through social networking sites like Facebook and Whatsapp.

“Any citizen can post a photo/video of any instance of violation indicating the location and time or any other relevant details on the Facebook page - www.facebook.com/del15sw or Whatsapp number - 9871055644. A dedicated cell has been set-up at the district level to look into all such reported violations on priority and take action within 24 hours” said an official statement.

District Election Officer (South-West) Ankur Garg, said, “As the 2015 elections are likely to be keenly contested ones, we are expecting an intensive and aggressive campaign by most parties and hence it is necessary to check that the code of conduct guidelines issued by ECI are followed right from beginning and violations are nipped in the bud.”

“While we have deployed sufficient flying and static squads on the ground, this newly launched facility will help each citizen become our eyes and ears, thereby increasing our efficacy several folds” Garg added.

Till date, more than 34,000 posters, 2,900 banners, 4,100 hoardings and 42 wall writings on public property have been removed. Similarly, more than 2,800 posters, 192 banners, 166 hoardings and 133 writings on the walls have been removed from private property as well.

Meanwhile, to hit the bull’s eye, that it missed during its 2013 debut in the National Capital, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is banking on the performance of its short-lived government in Delhi.

AAP is ready with its last and final Delhi Dialogue programme, which they are going to release on Tuesday. In the governance dialogue, the party will put forth its plan and blueprint for good governance in Delhi.

The initiative is part of the manifesto making process of the party and the end result will be a 50-point blueprint for Delhi’s development.

Kejriwal defies ec again on ‘bribe’ call

New Delhi: Despite the Election Commission’s warning, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday once again exhorted Delhiites to accept bribes from the BJP and Congress but vote for his party. “Take the money. I know they are distributing blankets and sacks of rice as well. Take all of that, but reject liquor as it destroys families,” Kejriwal told the crowd.
