Kiran Bedi Under EC Lens for having Two Voter ID Cards

NEW DELHI: With the BJP pulling out all the steps in the last leg of campaigning for the Delhi polls, its Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi has come under the scrutiny of the Election Commission on Wednesday. Bedi allegedly has two voter identity cards with separate addresses and the Election Commission is examining how she was issued two documents from different localities.

“We are examining the issue and a final conclusion will be arrived at soon,” said a senior election official.

As per the Election Commission’s record, Bedi was issued separate voter identity card with addresses in Uday Park and Talkatora Lane.  Earlier it was the Delhi BJP that was hitting out at Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal for having two voter cards, but the tables have turned now, quite to the joy of the AAP.

Criticising the BJP for not checking its facts, party spokesperson said: “That is for the Election Commission to see. But BJP president Amit Shah had claimed that AAP voters have multiple entries in the voters’ list. Clearly they didn’t check facts.”

As per the Election Commission’s record, Bedi was issued separate voter identity cards with addresses in Uday Park and Talkatora Lane. When asked about the issue, Bedi chose not to comment. Meanwhile, Bedi is busy campaigning by holding at least three public gatherings everyday. On Wednesday, she tweeted her 25-point blue print for Delhi as clamor was growing for the release of BJP manifesto. The AAP had already released its manifesto in parts through the Delhi Dialogue.

“Starting with an issue that is close to my heart - women’s security. I have talked & written about several of these ideas over the years,” Bedi’s tweet read.
