NEW DELHI: With the Congress and AAP hitting out at the BJP for purported comments of its party chief Amit Shah talking about 25 years for bringing acche din, the saffron party said its top leader never said that. The BJP released the video of Amit Shah’s speech in Bhopal, made on Monday, to say that party chief’s comments have been wrongly presented.

The party fielded its senior leader and power minister Piyush Goyal to claim news reports suggesting party would take 25 years to deliver were baseless and figment of someone’s imagination. Goyal refused to comment if the inputs of closed-door party meeting in Bhopal on Tuesday were deliberately presented to media.

Goyal said this was not justified on part of media to present facts in such a manner.

Excerpts of the speech were played out in a press conference and even the transcript released to counter opposition parties’ criticism. Shah said, “a five-year government cannot do anything if we have to take the country on top of the world. If I say that a five-year government cannot do anything - it doesn’t mean that we could run away from the facts or running away from the matter. We can reduce the inflation in five years, we can secure the borders in five years, the pride of India can be re- established by redrafting the foreign policy, economic development can be done, overcome poverty, unemployment but the dream to establish Mother India as the ‘Vishwa Guru’ within five years cannot be done.”

“It can only happen as the Congress had a ruling period after the independence and the whole ruling system from Panchayat level to Parliament during 1950-1967 was in their hand. Therefore the BJP must have to get the victory at every level of election from Panchayat to Parliament till 25 years from today then only we could accomplish this achievement,” Shah said according to the transcript of his speech.

Goyal added that Shah had spoken in the broader perspective to re-establish India as ‘Vishwa Guru’ and on the other side, it has been said to fulfill all the promises whether it be the issue of inflation, economic development, border security, employment or foreign policy etc in this 5 years.
