BAJPUR: Describing the month of Ramzan as sacred and inspiring, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has asked people to pray for social amity and peace during the holy month.
"This is the month when prophet Mohammad gave us the holy book of Quran. There is something pure and inspiring about this month. Let's all pray for peace, amity and prosperity for Uttarakhand during this holy month," Rawat said while attending an Iftar party here late last evening.
All hands raised in prayer to Allah during the holy month should ask for continuity of communal peace and amity in Uttarakhand so that the state prospers, he said, adding, communal peace and amity are pre-requisites for progress.
Rawat was accompanied by cabinet Minister Yashpal Arya and Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay.
