Man Crushed to Death Under Rath Yatra Festival Chariot

BERHAMPUR: A 28-year-old man was allegedly crushed to death under the wheels of Sri Jagannath's chariot at Lanjipalli in this district, police said today.    

The incident took place when the man fell down while pulling the chariot during the Rath Yatra festival yesterday.     

The man, identified as G Jagannath Reddy of Laxmi Nagar in Lanjipalli area in the town, was immediately taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him as brought dead, police said.

Senior police officers, including SP (Berhampur) Sarthak Sarangi, rushed to the spot. The incident did not affect pulling of the chariot, the SP said.
